For the third year in a row, Fort Pitt had the honor of sponsoring the Pittsburgh Vetrepreneur of the Year award. Each year, this award recognizes a regional veteran business owner who exhibits characteristics that enable their business to flourish. Martin Beichner, the recipient of the award for 2020, will be honored at an event on October 9, 2020.

Beichner is the president and CEO of Accutrex Products Inc. in Canonsburg, PA. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970. During his tour in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969, he served with the Marine Corps. as a Petty Officer Second Class Corpsman. Following his time in the service, he began to make gaskets and he and others started their own manufacturing firm making gaskets in 1980. Currently, the company employs more than 150 full-time workers at two facilities. In 2012 Martin’s company, Accutrex, was the recipient of the Charles C. Keller Excellence Award for Corporate Philanthropy in the small business category. 

As a Vietnam veteran-owned company, Beichner and his team have made it a top priority to support organizations and activities that address the needs of veterans. The company has also hired two previously homeless veterans and provides employees with the ability to devote company time to volunteering at a number of local organizations.

To be eligible for the Vetrepreneur Award, nominees must be a U.S. military veteran and business owner who currently runs a company.
